Luxury Art Nouveau Mahogany Salon Suite – Antique Hand-Carved Sofa & Chairs

This is a mahogany desk and armchair from the Art Nouveau period, made of gilt and chased bronze. Similar examples can be found

at the musée d’Orsay and in Ferdinand Neess’ collection at the Wiesbaden Museum. The artist was Majorelle Louis (1859-1926).

The desk and armchair are part of the Société des Artistes Décorateurs exhibition in Paris.

This antique marquetry inlaid wood piece features dragonflies and flowers, with a relief dragonfly on the front. It measures 137 cm

high, 83 cm wide, and 44 cm deep, signed by Galle Emile.

The desk, titled “Les Ombellules,” was a popular design by Emile Gallé during the Exposition Universelle of 1900. It features exotic

marquetry inlaid wood with botanical decor and a key in gilt bronze. The desk was acquired by the former owner at a public auction

in the 1950/1960s from the Salle des Ventes Santé Frères et Cie in Pau. The desk was later renamed “Les Ombellules” by the

French government in 1970.

This is a table and chair set in ash and maple veneer, commissioned by the Parisian menswear shop “Roddy” and designed by

PLUMET Charles (1861-1928) and SELMERSHEIM Tony (1871-1971). The table measures 76 cm high, 112.7 cm long, and

58.2 cm deep.
